Aromatherapy Bath and Personal Cleansing

Taking an aromatherapy bath is a great way to soothe the mind and body. An aromatherapy bath contains a mixture of essential oils that can penetrate the skin for relaxing physical and mental results.

Taking and aromatherapy bath can also be a form of alternative treatment to cure other physical ailments.

Essential oil preparations made for douching and enema can help in the soothing of gynecological ailments as well as in colon cleansing.

You can benefit from an aromatherapy bath by putting a mixture of essential oils in your bath water. In addition, you can also make your own essential oil infused bath salts for a soothing and healing bath.

Aromatherapy bath and personal cleansing recipes:
When using essential oils in a bath, avoid any oils that can irritate or cause sensitivity to your skin. Essential oils to avoid in your aromatherapy bath include basil, oregano, clove, cinnamon, black pepper and bay.

Aromatherapy bath oil.
For basic aromatherapy bath oil, you will need to make a blend of carrier oil to add to your bath water. The carrier oil should be added to the bath water before you add the essential oils to your bath. To make this blend include the following ingredients:

3 ounces of almond oil
1 ounce of canola oil
1 ½ ounce of olive oil
½-ounce wheat germ oil
1 once sesame oil

Mix these oils together and combine in a jar to create the carrier oil for your aromatherapy bath. When you are ready to take your aromatherapy bath, first, pour 1 ounce of the carrier oil into the water, then, add 15-25 drops of essential oils.
  • For a relaxing and calming bath, add 15-25 drops of lavender, bergamot and cedar wood to your bath water with 1 ounce of the carrier oil.
  • To relieve nervous tension, add drops of geranium and basil essential oils to your bath water with 1 ounce of the carrier oil.
  • For relief of PMS symptoms add 15-25 drops of rosemary to your aromatherapy bath along with 1 ounce of your carrier oil.
  • To treat a vaginal yeast infection, add 4-6 drops of tea tree oil to your bath water. Sit in this bath for 10 minutes twice a day.
Aromatherapy bath salt.
You can create your own essential oil infused bath salt to put into your bath water.

Aromatherapy bath salts provide the same results as aromatherapy bath oils.
To make your own aromatherapy bath salt you will need the following ingredients:

1 cup of Epsom salt
½ cup of Sea salt
Your favorite essential oil
Glass jar for storage
Wax paper
1 or 2 baking sheets
Large bowl

To create a soothing aromatherapy douche, start by brewing the chamomile tea in the distilled water inside a kettle. When the tea is done brewing, add in the essential oils and shake the mixture to disperse the oils into the tea. When the tea is cooled, douche with this preparation twice a day.

Aromatherapy vaginal ointments.
Aromatherapy ointments can be used topically to treat yeast infection and viral skin infections like genital warts and herpes simplex. You can apply these ointments directly to the vaginal area to relieve itching, or, insert a tampon coated with the ointment.
  • To create an ointment to treat a vaginal yeast infection combine 6 drops of tea tree oil and 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel.
  • For treatment of genital warts, apply a mixture of 10 drops tea tree oil, 5 drops thuja oil, ¼ ounce castor oil and 800 IU vitamin E oil. Apply this mixture two to four times a day with a cotton swab to the affected area.
  • To treat Herpes Simplex in the vaginal area or cold sores on the mouth, you can create an essential oil mixture and apply this mixture two to three times a day. To create this essential oil mixture, combine 4 drops of niaouli oil, 4 drops of eucalyptus oil, 2 drops of tea tree oil, 2 drops of bergamot oil, 1 drop of geranium oil and 1 ounce of calendula oil (carrier oil).

Aromatherapy enemas.
Aromatherapy enemas can be used for general colon cleansing and treatment of various body ailments. Here are some recipes for creating aromatherapy enema preparations:

  • Lavender enema: mixing a few drops of lavender oil into water for an enema can be useful in treating hemorrhoids, anal fissures, nausea and chronic headaches.
  • Fennel, tarragon, ginger, lemon and rosemary enema: mix 3 drops of each essential oil with grape seed oil and add to a water enema. This preparation is great for removing toxins, unhealthy bacteria, yeast and parasites in the colon.
  • Peppermint enema: add a few drops of peppermint oil to a water enema for general colon cleansing.

Undoubtedly an aromatherapy bath and personal cleansing regimen can bring you a lot of great health benefits and is certainly something worth looking into further.
